Various health agencies from different countries have recommended intakes of DHA/EPA (combined) for optimal health during adulthood ranging from 300-650 mg per day. Such intakes are met and surpassed in certain countries- such as Japan. The American Heart Association in their dietary recommendations for patients with coronary heart disease advocates intakes of 900 mg or 1 g/day.
