DPA stands for docosapentaenoic acid - which can be of the omega-6 or omega-3 type. Both are present in the human diet in extremely minor amounts. DPA omega-3 represents approximately 5% of the fat in seal meat /oil and thus is consumed in amounts as high as 1000 mg or more in the traditional Inuit diet which is rich in marine mammals.
