There are a few isolated reports on single patients who have experienced some excessive anti-coagulation with blood thinners such as warfarin and omega-3 supplementation. Such a possible interaction has occasionally led to an abnormal coagulation profile which was restored to the desired therapeutic range when the omega-3 supplementation was withdrawn. Individuals who are taking blood thinners should consult with their physician before using DHA/EPA supplementation.
